‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Star Nathan Gallagher Convicted of Domestic Violence, Arrest Warrant Issued

“Below Deck Mediterranean” star Nathan Gallagher was convicted of three domestic violence offenses Tuesday after failing to appear in a Sydney court, where a judge issued a warrant for his arrest as authorities confirmed he is believed to be overseas.

Gallagher, 28, had pleaded not guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent and common assault involving his former partner and “Below Deck Mediterranean” co-star Gael Cameron.

He was due in Burwood Local Court on Sept. 1 to contest the charges but did not appear. Prosecutors told the court Gallagher was believed to be outside Australia, while immigration records presented during the proceeding showed he was overseas.

Judge Janine Lacy proceeded with the hearing in Gallagher’s absence and found all three offenses proven. She then issued a warrant directing police to arrest him and bring him before the court.

“The offences themselves are very serious, with significant maximum penalties, in the context of them being domestic violence committed within the home,” Lacy said, according to Australian media reports.

New South Wales Police later issued a public appeal seeking information about Gallagher’s whereabouts, saying he is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant and is believed to be offshore.

The Australian warrant means Gallagher is also now wanted in connection with separate criminal cases in two countries. A court in Ireland issued a bench warrant for him in April 2025 after he failed to appear on an unrelated assault charge stemming from an alleged 2022 incident in County Donegal.

The Irish case is separate from the Australian prosecution. Gallagher is accused there of assaulting another man and causing harm in Dungloe. The charge has not been resolved.

Under New South Wales law, a Local Court can proceed when a defendant who had notice of a hearing fails to appear. Unless that person has submitted a written guilty plea, the matter may still be treated as contested, and the court can determine whether prosecutors have proved the charges from the evidence before it.

Gallagher has not yet been sentenced. The court cannot impose imprisonment on an offender who is absent, making the arrest warrant significant because it allows authorities to bring him before the court for further proceedings if he is located.

The Australian charges stem from a Dec. 26, 2025, confrontation involving Gallagher and Cameron at a home in Melrose Park, near Sydney.

Police arrested Gallagher the following morning. Prosecutors alleged that he restricted Cameron’s breathing during the confrontation and later grabbed her by the neck and struck her. Gallagher denied choking Cameron or covering her mouth and pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

Cameron attended Tuesday’s hearing and was expected to give evidence. The court also finalized a two-year Apprehended Violence Order involving Gallagher and Cameron.

An Apprehended Violence Order, commonly known as an AVO in New South Wales, is a protective court order that can restrict a person’s contact or conduct toward another person. It is separate from a criminal conviction, although both proceedings can arise from the same events.

Before the hearing, Gallagher disputed how the allegations had been publicly portrayed and told Rolling Stone that he possessed video, messages, and other material he believed provided additional context. The outlet said he did not provide those materials for review before its article was published.

Gallagher and Cameron met while appearing as deckhands on “Below Deck Mediterranean” and later had a son together. Their relationship has since ended.

NSW Police said Gallagher remains wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant and is believed to be offshore. Authorities have asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact police.
