Crispin Glover is facing a civil lawsuit filed by a woman who alleges the actor subjected her to coercion, abuse, and exploitation after persuading her to relocate to Los Angeles.

The complaint, filed Wednesday in California and obtained by multiple outlets, lists claims including battery, fraud, wrongful eviction, malicious prosecution, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and violations of the Bane Act, a California civil rights statute.

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, is described in the filing as a 30-year-old former model from the United Kingdom. According to the lawsuit, she first connected with Glover through social media in 2015. Over the following years, she alleges that Glover encouraged her to move to Los Angeles, promising professional opportunities in the entertainment industry.

The complaint states that the two met in person in Dresden, Germany, in 2023. During that meeting, Doe alleges that Glover displayed items of Nazi memorabilia from his personal collection. The filing further claims that in subsequent communications, Glover “groomed” her with assurances of a new start and a potential career working alongside him.

Doe ultimately relocated to Los Angeles in early 2024. Once there, the lawsuit alleges that the situation diverged sharply from what had been promised. According to the complaint, Glover sought to control her movements and required her to live with him under what she describes as increasingly restrictive and inappropriate conditions. The filing characterizes the arrangement as one in which she was expected to provide sex and unpaid labor.

The lawsuit alleges that after she refused to comply with certain demands, she was unlawfully evicted. It further claims that Glover filed false legal actions against her, including what the complaint describes as a fraudulent restraining order petition.

Glover has denied the allegations.

In a statement provided through his attorney, the actor called the claims “baseless” and offered a sharply different account of events. According to his legal representative, Glover was the victim of an unprovoked felony assault by the plaintiff on March 2, 2024, at his Los Angeles residence. The statement asserts that Glover contacted the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the scene, investigated, and arrested the plaintiff.

The statement adds that law enforcement records and a restraining order filed by Glover at that time support his version of events. His attorney said Glover intends to “vigorously defend himself” and pursue all available legal remedies, expressing confidence that the judicial process will demonstrate that the lawsuit lacks merit.

No criminal charges related to the allegations in the new civil filing have been announced.

Glover is best known for portraying George McFly in the 1985 film Back to the Future. His career spans several decades, with credits including River’s Edge, WillardCharlie’s Angels, and Alice in Wonderland. He has also maintained a career as a filmmaker and author.
