Scottish police are investigating visits involving former Prince Andrew, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at Balmoral after receiving new information tied to the royal family's private estate.
Police Scotland confirmed on October 30, 2026, that inquiries are active and at a "very early stage." Officers have not identified an offense or named Andrew as a suspect.
Photographs released through the U.S. Justice Department's Epstein files appear to show Epstein and Maxwell at Balmoral in 1999, while other images reportedly show Andrew and Epstein together during a shooting trip at the estate.
British reporting has linked the inquiry to allegations that women were trafficked to Balmoral. Police Scotland has not confirmed those claims and said its work will remain evidence-led.
Thames Valley Police, the Metropolitan Police and Surrey Police are also reviewing material released through the U.S. Epstein files as separate inquiries and assessments expand across Britain.
Andrew is already under investigation by Thames Valley Police over allegations that he shared sensitive government information with Epstein while serving as Britain's special representative for international trade and investment.
Police arrested Andrew on February 19, his 66th birthday, and later searched his residence on the Sandringham Estate and Royal Lodge, his former Windsor home. A British High Court judge threw out the search warrants used in those raids earlier this month after police admitted they had relied on the wrong legal provision.
Andrew has denied wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.
Police Scotland is now examining the information tied to Balmoral as British authorities continue reviewing evidence released through the U.S. Justice Department's Epstein disclosures.
