Billy Evans, the partner of convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, has denied controlling her personal and financial affairs while she serves a federal prison sentence, responding to questions raised by the documentary You Can See Everything.
During a question-and-answer session on X beginning Monday, November 2, 2026, Evans defended his use of a power of attorney granted by Holmes before she entered prison. He said the arrangement allowed him to act on her behalf but did not give him authority to disregard her wishes.
"We talk about everything, including X. Nothing happened behind her back," Evans wrote. "The POA was simply the legal mechanism that allowed me to act on her behalf while she's incarcerated. It was not a substitute for her consent."
The comments follow revelations in the documentary that Holmes had granted Evans power of attorney over her affairs. The film, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, shows Evans managing her social media presence and participating in business discussions while she is imprisoned.
Asked about the biggest misconception surrounding his portrayal, Evans rejected the suggestion that he controls Holmes. He described her as fiercely independent and said they make decisions together, despite her incarceration.
Evans also challenged accounts surrounding a scene in which he appears nude in a shower, calling suggestions that he knowingly approved its presentation a "false narrative." His response follows conflicting statements about how the footage was filmed and what he understood would appear in the final documentary.
Holmes is serving a federal prison sentence following her conviction for defrauding Theranos investors. Evans' comments address questions about their relationship and his role in managing her affairs, although the full scope of his authority depends on the terms of the power-of-attorney document, which have not been publicly established.
