Cher has filed a new request for an emergency conservatorship over her son, Elijah Blue Allman, citing what court documents describe as a significant decline in his mental health, finances, and substance use. The filing, submitted in Los Angeles County probate court, marks the second time the singer has sought legal control over aspects of her son’s affairs.

According to the petition, Allman, 49, is currently being held in a psychiatric facility in New Hampshire following two recent arrests. Cher’s legal team argues that his condition has worsened since her initial conservatorship attempt in late 2023, which was ultimately resolved through a private agreement the following year.

In the new filing, Cher alleges that Allman is unable to manage his financial responsibilities and is engaged in behavior that places him at risk. The request focuses specifically on a conservatorship of his estate, rather than control over his personal decisions, though the documents suggest a broader intervention could be pursued in the future.

Allman’s legal and personal situation forms a central part of the petition. Court records indicate he was arrested in late February in Concord, New Hampshire, on suspicion of trespassing and related charges, and again days later in Windham in connection with an alleged burglary. Following those incidents, he was placed under psychiatric care.

The filing also outlines concerns about Allman’s financial management. Cher claims her son receives approximately $120,000 per month from a trust established by his late father, Gregg Allman, but that the funds are quickly depleted. The petition describes a pattern in which Allman allegedly spends heavily on short-term accommodations and substances, leaving him unable to cover outstanding obligations, including significant tax liabilities.

Additional allegations in the filing describe incidents where Allman was reportedly a danger to himself or others. These include claims that he lost consciousness in a vehicle in traffic and required medical intervention, as well as domestic accidents involving unattended cooking. The document characterizes these episodes as part of a broader pattern tied to substance use and impaired judgment.

Support for the conservatorship request also comes from Allman’s sister, Devon Allman, who submitted a declaration describing her brother as unable to manage his life or finances. She cited past efforts to intervene on his behalf, including addressing debts she says were connected to drug use.

Cher is not seeking to serve as conservator herself in this instance. Instead, the petition requests that the court appoint a professional fiduciary to oversee Allman’s financial affairs, including the management of trust distributions and payment of expenses. The proposed arrangement would remain in place pending further court proceedings.

The case revives issues first raised in Cher’s 2023 filing, in which she argued that Allman required assistance due to mental health and substance-related challenges. At that time, a judge declined to grant the emergency conservatorship, and the matter was later resolved privately, with Allman agreeing to take steps toward financial oversight. The new filing claims those measures were not implemented.

Allman faces upcoming legal proceedings in New Hampshire related to his recent arrests, though those hearings may be delayed due to his current hospitalization.
