Halle Bailey and DDG Drop Domestic Violence Complaints, Reach Temporary Custody Agreement
Singer and actress Halle Bailey and rapper DDG, whose legal name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., have officially dropped their respective domestic violence complaints against one another after months of legal disputes. The former couple, who share a two-year-old son, reached a temporary settlement that includes a custody and visitation schedule and a mutual agreement to stop discussing the case publicly.
The decision, filed on Monday, October 27, comes just one week before the two were due to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court for a hearing related to their competing domestic violence restraining orders (DVROs).
According to court documents, Bailey and Granberry agreed to dismiss their restraining order requests “without prejudice”, meaning either party can refile if a new incident occurs. The settlement emphasizes that the dismissal “shall not be deemed prejudicial” to any future claims, effectively keeping the door open for renewed legal action if necessary.
In addition to dropping their complaints, the pair reached a temporary custody arrangement for their son. The agreement outlines a visitation schedule and requires both parents to “work cooperatively for the benefit” of the child while seeking a more permanent solution.
Another key term in the settlement prohibits both Bailey and DDG, along with their family and friends, from posting about their child on social media. The confidentiality clause also states that neither party “shall publicly discuss the terms of this stipulation or the litigation between them.”
Lawyers for both Bailey and Granberry have not yet issued a statement about the agreement.
The legal battle began in May 2025, when Bailey filed a domestic violence restraining order against DDG, alleging physical, emotional, verbal, and financial abuse. In her filing, the Little Mermaid star claimed that during a custody exchange at her Los Angeles home, DDG became aggressive, allegedly pulling her hair, slamming her face against a steering wheel, and chipping her tooth. Photos of her alleged injuries were included in court documents.
Bailey’s petition further accused DDG of repeated emotional manipulation and controlling behavior. The filing marked a sharp public turn for the couple, who had previously presented a united front following the birth of their son in 2023.
One month later, DDG filed a counter-petition denying the allegations and accusing Bailey of hitting and slapping him during arguments. His filing also alleged that Bailey had engaged in emotional manipulation, including threatening self-harm and limiting his access to their child.
The situation escalated throughout the summer, with both sides preparing for a court showdown scheduled for early November. However, after a mediation session earlier this month, Bailey and DDG agreed to work “in good faith” toward resolving the dispute privately.
Their decision to withdraw the DVROs represents what appears to be a temporary truce, one aimed at reducing public scrutiny and protecting their young son from further conflict. The settlement underscores a shared commitment “to work cooperatively for the benefit of the child” while keeping their disagreements out of the public eye.
Bailey, 24, rose to prominence as one half of Chloe x Halle before launching a successful solo career and starring in Disney’s 2023 live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. DDG, 27, first gained fame as a YouTuber before transitioning into music, where he’s built a loyal following with singles like “Moonwalking in Calabasas.”
The pair began dating publicly in 2021 and welcomed their son in 2023, often sharing affectionate glimpses of family life online. That image fractured earlier this year as reports of domestic disputes surfaced, prompting widespread public speculation and online backlash from fans of both artists.
Since then, both have pulled back from publicly discussing their relationship. Bailey, known for keeping her private life largely off social media, has recently focused on new music and film projects, while DDG continues releasing content to his large YouTube audience.
Though the restraining orders have been dropped, the case could resurface if either party alleges new incidents of abuse. For now, the agreement gives Bailey and DDG a legal framework to co-parent under temporary custody terms while avoiding further escalation.
The court’s next step would likely involve formalizing a permanent custody order if the two reach a long-term settlement. Until then, the temporary arrangement, along with the mutual non-disclosure and no-social-media provisions, will remain in place.
