Actress Selma Blair has publicly apologized to people she says she frightened or hurt following an incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight that led to her arrest and assault charges in New York.
In an Instagram video posted Friday, October 30, 2026, Blair said she had never intended to harm anyone but was following her attorneys' advice against discussing the events of October 11. The Cruel Intentions actress faces two second-degree assault charges involving a Port Authority police officer and a hospital nurse, while federal authorities are separately investigating allegations involving flight attendants.
"To the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, I frightened, alarmed: I am so sorry," Blair said, addressing the incident publicly for the first time since her arrest.
Blair, 54, acknowledged that she had remained silent for several weeks, telling viewers that they deserved to hear from her directly. She said she was taking the legal proceedings seriously and planned to focus on her health and her son while the matter continued.
Her apology follows her October 12 arraignment on assault charges after an alleged disturbance aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to John F. Kennedy International Airport. Two flight attendants reported injuries during the incident, with one requiring hospital treatment.
After the aircraft landed, Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority officer who was helping secure her to a stretcher. Prosecutors also accuse her of kicking a nurse in the chest while receiving treatment at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
The actress pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault involving the officer and nurse and was released on bail. Federal authorities are separately examining the reported assaults aboard the aircraft, although a federal court appearance date has not been publicly confirmed.
At Blair's October 12 arraignment, attorney Shawn Barnes argued that she had experienced a medical emergency after missing doses of medication and falling and striking her head during the flight. He said the circumstances left her severely confused and disoriented rather than acting with an intent to harm anyone.
Blair's representatives have maintained that her medical condition contributed to the alleged behavior. The actress, who publicly disclosed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018, has continued to dispute suggestions that she deliberately assaulted anyone.
Her next appearance in Queens Criminal Court is scheduled for January 19, 2027, when the state prosecution over the alleged assaults on the officer and nurse is expected to continue.
