Rapper BigXthaPlug was arrested Friday in Texas on DWI, marijuana, and firearm charges, exactly one year after a separate arrest on similar drug and gun allegations in Dallas.
The musician, whose legal name is Xavier Landum, was arrested by Allen police and booked into the Collin County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Allen police have released few details about what led to the arrest, saying the investigation remains active. Landum was released from jail Saturday.
The latest arrest came on Aug. 21, exactly one year after Landum was arrested in Dallas on marijuana possession and unlawful firearm possession charges. He was free on bond in that earlier case when he was taken into custody Friday.
The 2025 arrest followed a traffic stop after police said officers saw Landum driving a pickup truck without a front license plate. Authorities said they found a firearm and a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle. That case remains pending.
The new allegations are misdemeanor charges under Texas law. Driving while intoxicated and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana are Class B misdemeanors, while the unlawful firearm possession charge is a Class A misdemeanor. The charges are separate from the case stemming from last year’s arrest.
Friday’s arrest immediately affected Landum’s touring schedule. He had been scheduled to headline the Country Rising Festival in Winnipeg that night, but organizers announced he would not appear because of what they described as a “personal emergency.”
Landum was released in time to travel to Des Moines and perform at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand on Saturday night. During the show, he acknowledged having been in jail the previous day and thanked fans after making it to the performance.
He later used an image of his latest mugshot in a social media post promoting forthcoming music.
BigXthaPlug has built a following across rap and country music. His 2025 album I Hope You’re Happy featured collaborations with Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, Darius Rucker and other country artists.
The album was released on the same date as Landum’s August 2025 arrest, when he was booked on marijuana and firearm charges shortly before a scheduled release celebration.
Allen police have not disclosed additional details about Friday’s arrest, and court records have not yet established how the new charges will affect his pending 2025 case.
