Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug has received six months of deferred adjudication after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor weapons charge stemming from his 2025 arrest, as he separately faces new DWI, marijuana, and firearm charges.
The musician, whose legal name is Xavier Landum, appeared Friday in Dallas County Criminal Court No. 4 on a Class A misdemeanor charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon. The charge stemmed from an Aug. 21, 2025, traffic stop in Dallas.
Under the negotiated agreement, the court deferred a finding of guilt and placed Landum on six months of community supervision. The judgment lists no fine, gives him credit for three days already served, and sets his supervision to end Feb. 28, 2027.
Court records also show Landum agreed to surrender his rights to the Glock recovered in connection with the case.
A no-contest plea allows a defendant to accept the court's disposition without formally admitting guilt. Because Landum received deferred adjudication, no conviction was entered on the weapons charge. If he completes the supervision period without the court finding a violation, the case can be dismissed.
The charge dates back to an Aug. 21, 2025, traffic stop in Dallas. Police said officers stopped Landum's pickup truck because it was missing a front license plate and that he acknowledged having a firearm inside the vehicle. Authorities also reported finding a small amount of marijuana.
Friday's court appearance came exactly one week after Landum was arrested in Allen, Texas, on Aug. 21, 2026, one year to the day after the Dallas incident.
Allen police booked him into the Collin County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was released the following day and performed that night at the Iowa State Fair.
The newer charges are separate from the 2025 Dallas case and remain pending.
BigXthaPlug's legal troubles come as his profile has expanded beyond hip-hop. His collaboration with Bailey Zimmerman, “All the Way,” reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Hot Country Songs chart.
Landum's supervision in the 2025 weapons case is scheduled to continue through Feb. 28, 2027, while the charges stemming from his Aug. 21 arrest in Allen remain unresolved.
