Mickey Rourke has been evicted from his Los Angeles residence after a court ruled he failed to pay nearly $60,000 in overdue rent.

According to court records from the Los Angeles County Superior Court, a judge ruled in favor of Rourke’s landlord in an unlawful detainer case after the actor did not file a response to the complaint or appear in court to contest the eviction. The ruling grants the landlord legal possession of the property and terminates Rourke’s lease.

The property owner, identified as Eric T. Goldie, sought possession of the Drexel Avenue home rather than financial damages. As part of the ruling, the court determined the rental agreement had been canceled and that Rourke no longer had a legal right to remain in the residence.

The case stems from a notice served to Rourke in December ordering him to either pay $59,100 in overdue rent or vacate the property within three days. When the payment was not made and the matter went uncontested in court, the eviction moved forward.

Public attention around Rourke’s housing situation increased earlier this year when a GoFundMe campaign appeared online seeking to raise money on his behalf. The fundraiser reportedly collected around $100,000 before Rourke publicly denied any involvement.

In a video posted to social media, Rourke said he neither created nor authorized the campaign and expressed frustration about the situation. He suggested someone connected to his management may have been responsible, though details about who organized the fundraiser remain unclear.

Rourke also said he would not personally seek financial assistance through crowdfunding platforms, calling the situation embarrassing but saying he expected to move past it.

The actor, who rose to prominence in the 1980s with films such as 9½ Weeks and later experienced a career resurgence with The Wrestler, has had a long and often turbulent career marked by both critical acclaim and personal challenges.

His performance in The Wrestler earned him a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award and reestablished him as a major dramatic actor after years largely spent outside the Hollywood spotlight.

The eviction represents the latest legal and personal issue for Rourke, who has at times spoken openly about financial difficulties and the unpredictable nature of an acting career. It remains unclear where Rourke is currently living following the court’s decision. Neither the actor nor representatives for the landlord have publicly commented further on the eviction ruling.

The case highlights how even high-profile figures can face housing disputes similar to those affecting many renters, particularly in high-cost markets like Los Angeles, where missed payments can quickly lead to legal action if not resolved.
